Ghana has been nominated for the International Reggae and World Music Awards’ 39th edition (IRAWMA).
Five Ghanaian entertainers have been nominated for the award scheme’s various categories.
Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, DJ Switch, and Kwame Yeboah are the artists.
The award for Best Virtual Entertainer of the Year was nominated for Shatta Wale. Agent Sasco, Beenie Man & Bounty Killer (Verzuz), Buju Banton, and Capleton are among the nominees for the honor.
Shatta Wale was nominated for the Best African Dancehall Entertainer award for the second time. Stonebwoy, his former viral, has also been nominated for the award.
Sarkodie’s Black Love Concert was nominated for the Best Virtual Showcase/Concert award, competing against Buffalo Souljah of South Africa, Patoranking of Nigeria, and Winky D of Zimbabwe. The stage, which took place in August at Osu’s Independence Square, featured performances Efya Nocturnal, Joey B, and King Promise before the rapper’s grand entrance.
Beenie Man vs Bounty (Verzuz Battle), Rebel Salute, and Reggae Sumfest have all been nominated alongside Sarkodie.
DJ Switch, a young Disc Jockey, was also nominated for Best Young Entertainer. DJ Whitney, Kailash, and Wayne J were also nominated.
Kwame Yeboah, a recording engineer and member of Osibisa, has been nominated for Dean Fraser, Kubix, Bongo Herman, and Sly & Robbie.
