Kanye West, other African-Americans join Nigeria’s #EndSARS movement in solidarity

#EndSARS is a hashtag created young Nigerians in 2018. Last week, the organization’s social media campaign against police brutality resurfaced. Last weekend, it received 1.5 million tweets over a weekend, and it eventually became an offline viewing event. One of the largest protests in the country in a decade.

The African-American hip-hop artist and fashion designer Kanye West (Kanye West) is now the most popular topic in the world, tweeting.

In addition, in turbulent national demonstrations across the country, several people have been killed. The first African American Emmy, Tony and Oscar winner actress Viola Davis urged her 6.4 million Instagram followers pray for Nigeria.

Context

The Nigerian Youth Organization called on President Muhammadu Buhari to issue an executive order to specifically disband the special anti-robbery team. This is a police force accused of illegal arrests, torture and extrajudicial killings.

They also want to see the country implement comprehensive police reforms.
