Dec 7 polls: NDC trains lawyers to be deployed at collation centres

The main opposition National Congress for Democracy (NDC) has trained lawyers on how to handle election disputes before the presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7.

The training was held on Friday, September 18th and was hosted Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, former Minister of Justice and Minister of Justice.

Over the years, Ghana’s electoral system has been subject to electoral disputes.

Recall that after the 2012 general election, the country experienced a major election petition against the results of the presidential election, when the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) submitted the petition to the Supreme Court to the Election Commission (EC).

Ms. Apia Opon said: “This is the first time that we have actually participated in this kind of training. We have brought together the lawyers and all the appointees.”

“This time, they hope that lawyers, former appointees and people with certain talents will monitor the NDC’s votes in the sorting center.”
