Top GFA officials attend funeral of late Kwasi Owusu

Ghanaian football officials and some former national stars are mourning Sunyani and the family of the late Black Star legend Kwasi Owusu (Kwasi Owusu).

A high-power delegation of the Ghana Football Association led Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman Ralph Gyambrah, Executive Council Members Nana Sarfo Oduro and Kingsley Osei Bonsu attended the funeral of the late National Star in Sunyani Victoria Park.

The legendary former Ghanaian football player died on Monday, March 30, 2020 after battling illness. He won the silver medal in the African Cup of Nations in Sudan in 1970 and has been captain in Ghana for more than ten years.

He is the captain of the Black Star team. The team won the runner-up in the African Cup of Nations held in Sudan in 1970. Until 2013, Ghana’s historical scoring champion reached an all-time high of 39 goals, and Asamoah Ji’an ( Asamoah Gyan) broke this record.

At the club level, his days at Bofoakwa Tano FC will be remembered. The former captain of the Black Star team is a prolific goal player, his legacy and trajectory on and off the court will not be forgotten, he will truly be missed.

He is 72 years old. May his soul rest in peace.
