Saglemi contractor was paid $179m for $64m work – Attorney-General

Documents filed in court on behalf of the Attorney-General alleges that the contractor who executed the Saglemi project has been paid $179m despite executing work worth $64m.

Out of 2,172 acres of land released to the contractor, he is said to have developed

just 651.75 acres.

The Attorney-General says none of the completed 668 housing units is habitable creating a situation where none has been purchased, loan facility remaining unpaid and occasioning a huge financial loss to the state.

Executive Chairman of Construtora OAS Ghana Limited, the company that executed the project, Andrew Clocanas has been charged in court alongside former Works and Housing Ministers Collins Dauda and Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah.

They are joined in court former Chief Director of the Ministry Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu and Tetteh Angelo, the majority shareholder of Ridge Management Solutions DWC-LLC.

The AG’s office in the court documents recounts the circumstances leading to the award of the contract and what investigations have revealed.
