The presidential candidate of the National Congress of Democracy (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, suspended a law prohibiting the use of rescue vehicles President Nana Akufo Addo’s decision. This is a political head.
The 2020 Customs Amendment Act provides incentives for car manufacturers and assemblers registered under the Ghanaian Automobile Manufacturers Program and prohibits the import of rescue vehicles and automobiles into Ghana.
Even though the law was originally scheduled to be implemented in November this year, the government still suspended it.
Mr. Mahama addressed artisans in Suame magazine on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, as part of his 5-day campaign trip to the Ashanti region. He said that this law is important to Ghana’s general Parts dealers and others in the automotive industry are not helpful.
“Why is the law suspended? I said that they must completely withdraw the legislation from Parliament, but because of the upcoming elections, they temporarily suspended the bill before waiting for the result.
“May God forbid. They won’t win the election, but what they want to do is if they win the election, they will reconsider the bill,” he said.
Mr. Mahama, if the NDC elected on December 7th general election will completely withdraw from the legal guarantee.
