NDC initiated progressively Free SHS – John Dumelo replies Oppong Nkrumah

Ayawaso West Wuogon’s congressional candidate John Dumelo said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is implementing a progressively free high school (SHS) in Ghana until the party leaves office in 2016.

He made the above comments after a heated debate between President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and President John Dramani Mahama over who introduced the free SHS program to Ghanaians.

Mr. Mahama said: “We started the program, NPP came and continued.

“Unfortunately, the implementation is very bad, so we are in a double dilemma. I assure your folks that within a year, I will cancel the double track.”

However, President Akufo Addo expressed shock and frustration at these statements, saying that this clearly shows that the National Democratic Council’s campaign is in chaos.

“When I promised to bring free SHS, he said it was impossible. I was lying to Ghanaians and voted. It will take more than two decades for Ghana to implement such a policy,” Akufo-A Mr. Du said.

Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said in a tweet: “The millions of Ghanaians affected the free SHS program have no short memory. They know it was conceived and initiated @NAkufoAddo. They will speak on December 7.”

Mr. Du Mello increased his voice in this debate, and he said who answered directly to the Minister of Information. “The framers of the Constitution believed that it was wise to gradually introduce free education. (Article 25(1)(B) of the 1992 Constitution).”

He, “The NDC started the Progressively FREE SHS for the 2015/2016 Academic year absorbing fees of 320,000 day SHS students across Ghana.”

The Free SHS policy was implemented in September 2017 the Akufo-Addo-led government.
