GIJ Students Not Allowed to Enter Campus as Tension for Demonstration Gathers
#OccupyGIJ Demonstration
The Ghana Institute of Journalism’s (GIJ) Ringway campus has been locked ahead of a planned #OccupyGIJ protest to air their complaints in response to a school directive.
“At a meeting held on Monday, March 22, 2021, management of the Ghana Institute of Journalism decided that students who paid their fees after the registration deadline should defer their program,” the statement reads.
Some enraged Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) students planned to storm the school’s campus on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, to protest a management directive that all those who paid their fees after the deadline will have their courses postponed.
The directive has enraged the affected students, who have decided to march to the school’s premises to picket in solidarity with their peers.
