DJs’ Union of Ghana officially launched

The DJs’ Union of Ghana, the umbrella body that represents radio, club and all other types of DJs across the country has officially been launched in Accra.

The event was well attended a cross-section of DJs drawn from different parts of the country.

A Patron of the union Victor Akpeke said the formation of the union is a step in the right direction.

“I am happy that I did not make it as a DJ in terms of returns or finance but there is an organization that has been put in place to fight the welfare of DJs. With DJUGA, the plight of DJs won’t be the same as I met in my prime time”, he said

He added that he will continue to dedicate his time to supporting DJ talents who are members of the union to learn more about the profession and the rudiments involved.

Also present at the colorful ceremony which was held at the Sun Lodge hotel was PRO for GHAMRO, Prince Tsegah.

He commended the union for bringing to light such a great initiative and affirmed that DJs, through the union, would now have bargaining power and added that the union is already having talks with GHAMRO for a better relationship between his outfit and DJs.

He was addressing concerns raised members of the union about harassment from personnel who identify themselves as GHAMRO task force and assured members that through the union, their concerns would be addressed.
