DJ Switch flees Nigeria as govt clamp down on #EndSARS protesters
According to reports, DJ Switch fled the country after a series of death threats.
Prior to this, she broadcasted the shooting of soldiers on demonstrators live at the Lekki toll booth on October 20.
Singer Peter Okoye’s assistant confirmed that the disc jockey had become a social crusade in an unknown country.
“We don’t want to say anything now, this is a fact. This is a threat, and we don’t want to say anything at the moment. She has received a lot of threats. The fact is that she is not in Nigeria at the moment and is safe.” Charles Abi said.
“We don’t want to answer whether she is in Canada now, but she is not in the country, she is safe.”
The Nigerian News Agency said that the Nigerian government has begun to suppress the leaders of the protests in recent days.
The first sign of the regime’s repressive mission was the confiscated passports of protesting lawyers at Lagos Airport.
Modupe Odele, a member of the Feminist Alliance, was prevented from traveling abroad the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).
According to PMNews in Nigeria, the coalition has raised about 147 million naira to support protests that have reverberated around the world.
Odler provided legal aid to those arrested during the demonstration.
However, Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of the Interior, responded quickly, stating that the federal government did not include the names of #EndSARS protesters on the banned list. Later, NIS asked her to come and get her passport.
Odler’s passport was released on Monday.
However, on October 20, the Central Bank of Nigeria also secretly obtained a court order to freeze the accounts of 19 people and a company related to the protest.
The targets include two members of the Lagos Judicial Investigation, Rinu Oduala and Majekodunmi Temitope.
After that, they withdrew from the investigation, describing the account blockade as a sign of malice.
