Blackstars in South Africa for AFCON

Ghana’s Black Stars will fly to South Africa on Tuesday night for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on March 25.

At the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, Ghana will face South Africa in a fight for early qualifying.

In Group C, Ghana and South Africa are tied for first place with 9 points each, Sudan has 6 points, and So Tomé and Principe has none.

The Black Stars won 2-0 in the first leg at the Cape Coast Stadium against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

Akonnor, who will be without the Ayew brothers and Thomas Partey, hopes to win both games against the South Africans.

The Black Stars are expected to arrive in Johannesburg later today and begin training on Wednesday at the FNB Stadium.

For the journey to South Africa, Akonnor has named a 26-man squad.

Ghana will face South Africa in Johannesburg on Thursday, March 25, before visiting Sao Tome and Principe on March 29 in Accra.
