Akufo-Addo has nothing to show after borrowing ¢140bn – Mahama

The flag bearer of the National Congress of Democracy (NDC) has asked President Akufo-Addo to show what he has done to the 140 billion pounds borrowed the government since he took office.

John Mahama stated that although the Akufo-Addo regime received more than twice the amount of loans that its government, the president has not embarked on any major development projects to prove these. The rationality of the loan.

When the NDC presidential candidate visited the Boman area, he addressed the Chief Sampa and the people in the northern constituency of Jaman. He wanted to know what the government has been doing with the borrowed money, especially when many communities regret the lack of development projects. .

Mr Mahama said that the government’s 140 billion pounds of loans constituted an important supplement to the country’s debt stock, but the president and his officials could not point out development projects.

He explained: “When I took office, we borrowed 54 billion U.S. dollars. Ghanaians can clearly see what we have done with this money, including roads, water, electricity, airports, ports and schools.”

Mr. Mahama said that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused the NDC government of borrowing too much and promised to develop Ghana without borrowing.

“But, after four years in office, do you know the money they borrowed?” he asked.

The NPP government has borrowed 140 billion pounds. Sadly, the government failed to explain to the Ghanaians that they used the money in areas such as roads, water and schools. What do they do with money? ”

Mr. Mahama said that it was not correct that the Akufo-Addo government borrowed to fund free high school education, as some government spokespersons claimed.

He said that the Akufo-Addo government, with its passive policies and deliberate closure of companies owned people who are deliberately deemed not to support the NPP, has pushed the country in the wrong direction.

Therefore, Mr. Mahama urged Ghanaians to vote for NDC in the upcoming general election on December 7, 2020, in order to create prosperity for all, and work hard to provide employment opportunities and reduce economic difficulties.

When Mr. Mahama was elected president in the December elections, he promised to build roads in Sampa town and renovate hospitals.
